Another College Application Boot Camp is over!

We finished our last session of College Application Boot Camp 2013 today and our last college tour for the summer!  We are proud to say 70 seniors participated in Boot Camp, started (and some even finished) their essays, and started their college applications.  There were 38 people on today's tour of VCU in Richmond and ECPI in Glen Allen.  What a fun day!

Next, parents are invited to attend one of two parent Boot Camp sessions - August 22 at 9:00 a.m. or August 27 at 3:00 p.m.  We hope to see parents of our seniors there!

It's going to be another great year at KGHS!

KGHS Back to School Orientation - August 29

King George High School will host a Back to School Orientation Thursday, August 29.  Freshmen and their parents are asked to arrive at the auditorium at 5:00 p.m. (enter the building through the cafeteria).  A brief introduction and announcements will be made at that time.  Students and parents will then be given time to meet teachers and tour the building before older students arrive.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are asked to arrive at the auditorium at 6:00 p.m.

During this orientation opportunity, parents may register their student for the PSAT (Preliminary SAT).  Generally, this test is administered primarily to sophomores and juniors preparing for the SAT.

Parents may also register their student for the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery).  This test has limited seating and is administered primarily to juniors and seniors.  The registration table for both the PSAT and the ASVAB will be in the cafeteria.

Class schedules for students are available for first semester online through Parent Portal at http://ps.kgcs.k12.va.us.  A guide using this site is at http://www.kgcs.k12.va.us/pstutor.pdf.
Parent Portal support will be provided in Room 135 for those who need help accessing the class schedule.

Students will receive a paper copy of their schedule in 1st block on the first day of school.

Students interested in being a mentor to a Sealston Elementary School student may stop by the True Colors Mentoring Program display in the cafeteria.
